This past week we were lucky enough to be able to go on a vacation with Jason's family to Glacier National Park and up into Canada to Banff National Park. It was so much fun and quite eventful. Lots of traveling but well worth the trip! This trip was a hiker's paradise. We went on some really scenic hikes and were able to work off some of the food we were scarfing down all week. Even with all the hiking I still gained some weight. I hate post vacation weight it's so depressing and hard to get gym motivated again.
I think the border patrol workers all hate their jobs. Both times we had to go through customs the workers were so rude and grumpy! Note to self....(Never work for border patrol you will hate life..)
While in Canada our first stop was the Cardston, Alberta Temple. The house of the Lord how wonderful! Every time I see a temple I am reminded how grateful I am to have the gospel and temples so close at all times.
We went to Waterton National park in Canada and stayed in the Prince of Whales Hotel. It was a very old hotel and freaky. The elevator boy told us that the rooms we were staying in are said to be haunted!! SCARY! I can't believe that I was able to sleep. The above picture is of the international border between the USA and Canada.
While we were at the hotel we went looking for bear and when we came back to pack our stuff this deer had just had 2 babies. They were so cute we got to see them starting to try walking and eating how special. I want a baby dear now.
This picture was at the end of our most intense hike up a the gondola in Banff. We hiked so hard and I can't believe how tired it made me. If you could see my face it is bright red but luckily my ball cap covers it. It was weird hiking with all these Canadians that were speaking French. I felt left out. I knew I should have paid more attention in French Class.
Jason and I at the Falls outside Waterton, Alberta

Ahhh.... Now here comes the most intense moment of our trip. We were looking for some bear but hadn't seen anything yet so Jason talked McKell and I into a river walk. Half way through our walk we saw some new bear paw prints in the sand by the river. That made us a little nervous so we were walking a little faster. Jason picked up some bear scatt by the prints and all of a sudden something started thudding at us from the trees. I knew that any minute a bear would come roaring through and jump on us. We were walking much faster now just trying to get back to the car. I wanted to cry but I held it in because nobody else was. We were all very scared though. As we went to head up to the car through the trees Jason's dad was yelling at us that there was a bear in between us and the car. You can imagine my heart beat at this point. The only place for us to go was the river and I know a bear can swim faster than me so I'm thinking that I'm pretty much dead at this point. Well we found out the bear was a black bear and it was making the thudding noise at us. McKell and I were able to sneak back around to the car while Jason watched the bear and we all made it back to safety. No more river walks for Mckell and me after that fun experience.

We saw so much wildlife on our trip. Mountain goats with cute babies, lots of bear, elk, moose with calves, elk with their new babies and bighorn sheep. We saw a bear with two little cubs we weren't able to get pictures but how cute!

This is in the town of Waterton in somebodies yard. They were such friendly bighorn sheep. They even used the right lane when they traveled down the streets!
Thank you Lynn, Lori and McKell for such a fun vacation. We had a great time and hope to go back someday. I have a lot more pics in a slide show to be posted later since I have to many to post on here. ENJOY!

How Fun!!! I am jealous!!! I am glad the bear didn't get ya.
That's so cool! I've heard Banff is one of the most gorgeous places in the world! I can't believe all the animals you saw! And, Linds, I'm sure you can't even tell you gained weight. You always look beautiful.
What a fun trip! We are coming home for the 24th of July weekend. Will you be there? Perhaps participating in the tri? :) I would LOVE to get together.
