CaTcHiNg Up

So for those of you that were wondering if we were ever going to post again here it is. We'll try to catch you up on our awesome and exciting life's here in Evanston. We are living in our new(old) house and loving it. Jason has been so busy with his job lately and so we haven't done much work on the house. My job is going..... it has been a hard transition for me coming from Gem City but I know if I'm positive work will continue to get better. No... we still don't have any kids. I know it's strange but I guess we didn't drink enough of the fertile Laramie water before we moved. However, good things come to those who wait... right?

So what have we been up to? The end of January we were able to go to Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband concert here in Evanston with Jason's family. We have been to 3 of their concert's now and we enjoy them every time. We recommend their concert to anyone looking for a good time. They are great entertainers. If you've never heard of them I have some of their songs on our blog if you want to listen.

McKell with her friend Abby before the concert.

The day before Valentines day we made a trip to Draper for the temple open house. WOW... what a beautiful temple. I'm so amazed at the beauty each time I see a temple inside and out. It doesn't get any better than this.
I used to dislike Valentines day until I met Jason and now I love it. I'm so grateful that I found somebody so kind, understanding and handsome to spend eternity with. I can't even express in words how much I love him.
My parents and I went to a craft store and I saw this cute valentines day decoration that I was going to buy and so my dad talked me out of buying it saying that he could cut blocks for me and we could make it. So this is how it turned out. THANKS MOM & DAD... I love it and I know I couldn't have made it without you.

So for valentines I made Jason a candy gram and I know it's hard to read but here is a picture of Jason sporting it. Isn't he cute!

While we are still in the month of February I was thinking of things that I LOVE... here's my top 10 list in random order..
  • Jason
  • My parents and other family
  • Heavenly father his son Jesus Christ and their Gospel
  • True Friends
  • Laughing
  • Basketball
  • Our home
  • Hot Showers and Clean towels
  • Good health
  • Hugs from Jason

That was kind of hard to narrow down to 10. I love so many things and I am so grateful for everything good in my life. Even though we all have hard trials I know that if we can focus on what is good everything will work out. Until next time.........

Pranksters

Jason and I just finished pranking some of our good friends here in Evanston tonight and I have been laughing so hard I thought that I would share our prank although it might not sound as funny as it actually was.
THE VICTIMS:
One of my good friends from work and her husband (The Walkers)
THE PLAN:
Jason and I were headed home from the Ogden temple last night and we get a phone call. Guess Who? The second counselor in the bishopric just calling to see if we would speak in church in a couple of weeks. Of course Jason volunteers us both and says we would love to each give 15 minute talks. When he gets off the phone I asked him if there is going to be a rest hymn in between our talks and he didn't know. We start thinking that we should have told the second counselor that our friends (The Walkers) are very musically talented and we would like if they could sing a rest hymn. DANG! To bad we didn't think of this earlier. Instead we come up with a new plan.
The SET UP:
Today at work I see Sister Walker and our conversation went something like this.
Lindsey: So did you guys get a phone call from Brother H. last night?
Sis. Walker: No why?
Lindsey: Oh, because he called us to see if we would speak in church and Jason requested that you and Bro. Walker sing a rest hymn in between our talks.
Sis. Walker: worried expression No he didn't, why would he do that?
Lindsey: You know Jason. He's just silly like that.
Sis. Walker: Well do you think that Bro. H. knew Jason was just kidding?
Lindsey: I'm not really sure. I'm just glad he never called you that makes me feel better.
Sis. Walker: Well I hope he doesn't call us tonight.
THE EXECUTION:
When I got off work I informed Jason that everything is going to plan and Sis. Walker is concerned about getting called to sing in church.
Jason easily convinces his dad to call Sis. Walker pretending to be Brother H. (The second counselor) and ask her if they could sing a rest hymn. The phone call went something like this....
Sis. Walker: Hello?
Jason's Dad (Lynn): Hello... Sister Walker this is Brother H. from church.
Sis. Walker: hesitantly Ummm... Hi.
Lynn: We had a request and would very much like to have you and your husband sing a rest hymn in church on the 8th.
Sis. Walker: Well we don't really sing.
Lynn: Hmmmm.....Well do you play any sort of musical instruments or the piano?
Sis. Walker: We arn't really musically talented in any way.
(PAUSE, THINKING)
Lynn: Well maybe you could just lip sing a hymn.
Sis. Walker: No, I don't think so.
Lynn: hmmmm... pause..... well don't you have a son almost primary age. Maybe he could get up and sing a primary song.
Sister Walker: No our son doesn't even talk yet.(He's only 1)
Lynn: Oh well sorry to bother you. I am meeting with the Bishop tonight and I guess we'll have to think of something else. Maybe I'll call the Kennedy's and see if they can think of anyone else.
Sis. Walker: relief Alright.. Sorry.
Lynn: Well have a good night.
The phones hang up and we are all laughing so hysterically. I was laughing so hard I started to cry. Right away Sis. Walker calls me and she thought maybe it was a prank so I tell her the truth and we laugh about it for a while.
Now we wait to get pranked back. Since that's how it usually works.

Living the Dream

We are officially MOVED IN and loving our home. It was built in 1920 so it has a lot of neat features that only super old homes have. We finished mostly everything on the main level but the basement it still pretty much unfinished so we will have fun completing it in the next little while. It has been a lot of work but the feeling of accomplishment has been so wonderful and I'm grateful that I married such a handyman and we didn't need to hire anything out except our counter tops. I hate to admit that I'm not as handy as Jason but I helped with the tile in the bathroom and I was able to paint everything with my mother's help. I wish I had pics of the bathroom before but we only have it on our video camera. It is the biggest improvement that we made. The bathroom used to be totally pink and it had no shower so we tore everything out and started over.

The Kitchen before... Gotta love the retro carpet!

The kitchen today.....The carpet just had to go.

The day we bought our house from the front door.

A view of the living room from the kitchen.....
I very much dislike paneled walls.

So we tore it down and this is what we found.

Much Better!
The Left wall in this pic is the paneled wall sheet rocked and painted.
This is our bedroom prior.
Our bedroom now.
Spare Bedroom

Bathroom.. Like I said before I wish so badly I had some before pics.

I didn't take any pics of our basement. I will post more later as we work on finishing it.
